OVERVIEW
Badge Bar Journal magazine was a sports car-minded magazine published monthly from San Rafael,
California. The publisher was Alden (Al) Wintringham, a sports car enthusiast and organizer. The magazine was devoted to the
activities of sports car clubs in the U.S., and it contained general interest content such as race event coverage, club activities
and early custom fiberglass cars. It was distributed mostly through subscriptions, as is evidenced by mailing labels on many of
issues on this website.
Mr. Wintringham was active in many NorCal sports car activities. He organized the annual Reno Rally from 1952 through 1959 (and possibly later). It was considered the "oldest" non-competitive event on the West Coast, as several hundred drivers came to have fun without stopwatches and calculations!! He also was the vice-chair of the Northern California Sports Car Council.
PUBLICATION DATA
The publisher did not provide circulation data to the predominant publishing compendia at the time, N.W. Ayer & Sons.
