OVERVIEW:
Late Great Chevys (LGC) magazine and enthusiast club was developed and operated by
Danny Howell (President) and Bob Snowden (editor). The title was conceived on a ski trip in 1980, and by mid-1980 the two
gentlement spun off a separate organization within the Classic Chevy Club International (CCCI) organization
which was owned by Doug Morehead. LGC was dedicated to 1958 through 1964 Chevrolets.
The club grew from 300 initial members to over 10,000 over a 25 year period. Subscribers to the magazine got information on national and local club events, access to restoration parts and technical advice, and coverage of annual conventions.
In 1988, Mr Morehead sold CCCI to Eckler's Automotive, but Late Great Chevys apparently was not included. A new ownership entity continued as the Late Great Chevy Association and operated out of Florida. The team spun off a new title, Bow Times in 1992 to cover all years and types of Chevrolets, while LGC expanded to cover just full-size Chevrolets from 1958 to 1972.
Both titles were published in parallel until December, 1999 when they were folded into a new title, Chevy Times. This new title was later sold to Eckler's in 2005.
