OVERVIEW:
Vans & Pickups was published by Petersen Publishing in Los Angeles, California. Petersen first
featured the van craze in Hot Rod magazine in the early 1970s. Later, the publisher issued a
series of "one-shots" entitled Vans. Seven issues were printed (numbered from 1 through 7) starting
in 1976, and the last one was issued in early 1978.

Vans & Pickups subsequently followed in April, 1978, and it launched one month after the launch of Petersens' 4-Wheel and Off-Road. The editor was Eric Pierce who had edited R.V. Van World at Hi-Torque Publications.
Petersen had other competitors with van and pickup content including Vans & Trucks and 1001 Truck & Van Ideas.
However, the van craze was coming to an end, and by 1979 or 1980 many van-centric titles had ceased publication.
