OVERVIEW:
Mopar Collectors Guide (MGC) is published by MGC Publishing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The publishers,
John Ellis and Rob Wolf, have a deep knowledge of Mopar performance vehicles. The magazine features various models, information on the collector
market, technical articles, classified ads and buyer's guides. The first issue was published in January, 1988 in a tabloid-type,
newspaper format. It evolved into a full magazine and became available on newstands with the December, 1990 issue. Cover images
on this website start with the magazine format.
The idea for MGC came out of a strong bond among the founders when they formed a Louisiana-based Mopar club called LA Connection. The club grew to 60 members and produced a newsletter. On a weekend road trip to hunt for parts, the idea for the magazine was born. The publishing team was fortunate to be able to use the newly emerging desktop publishing software Pagemaker to create the first issues. They also had good luck in partnering with Roland Osborne, publisher of Chrysler Power, to publish a test issue and get market results from newstand sales, thus allowing them to secure bank financing.
The magazine has evolved consistently to become the largest independent Mopar title!
A big THANK YOU to reader Ian who contributed the entire collection of issues!!
