Hi-Performance Cars - Magazine Covers 1965 to 1983
This East coast magazine was re-titled from Cars - The Automotive Magazine by Royal Publications
in New York. Published monthly with intermittent breaks, and it had a street and strip focus. Content included muscle car tests, drag racing event coverage, how-to and technical
guidance for the do-it-yourselfer, and feature cars that included dragsters, muscle cars and occasionally a pre-1948 hot rod.
Royal Publications was managed by Irwin Stein and Walter Zacharius. In 1973, Mr Zacharius took control and renamed the business entity
Magnum-Royal Publications. The following year, he sold the title to Popular Publications and publisher Harry Egner. And in
the late 1970s or early 1980s, the title was sold to publisher John McCluskey who operated both Arden Communications and Courtney Books.
