OVERVIEW:
When Petersen Publishing started 5.0 Mustang magazine in 1994, it already had the Mustang & Fords title focused on classic
Mustangs and other Ford performance vehicles. But the 5.0 Mustang title allowed them to capture those readers whose primary interest was to
enhance the performance of Fox-body and later SN-95 variants of the Mustang. Evolutions in the Mustang platform, such as the 4.6 engine and New Edge design in 1999, were
also well covered.
Content focused on performance tips and modifications, but it also featured owner vehicles. The magazine started on a bi-monthly schedule but switched to monthly with the October,
1996 issue. Publication continued through September, 2000 when the title was merged with Super Ford and re-titled
as 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords.
