OVERVIEW
Spotlite Books was published by Petersen Publishing. As a successor of Trend Books,
these were topic-specific titles that mostly covered hot rodding. These were published from 1960 through 1965.
The first four titles, numbered H-101 through H-104, were co-branded as Trend Spotlite to aid in the transition from the predecessor title. They were hobby books covering model railroads, rocks and gems, and guns.
Spotlite-branded numbering began with S-505 Handguns Afield, and 8 subsequent issues included both automotive and non-automotive content. Finally, #S-514 up through #S-559 was only automotive related material.
We believe 59 issues were printed from 1960 through 1965 based on found versions and the numbering scheme. Below are just the 49 titles with automotive-related content.
In the 1970s, Petersen again used the Spotlite brand to publish another 40 titles. Of these, 13 were automotive related but mostly repair, maintenance and tuning oriented. They are not included in our library at this time.
