OVERVIEW:
Sports Cars Illustrated (SCI) was originally published by
Henry Scharf and Motor Publications Inc. Content focused primarily on small
European sports cars including road tests and racing activities.
It started in July, 1955 and was sold to Ziff-Davis sometime in 1956. In March, 1961 Ziff-Davis renamed it Car and Driver.
Besides publishing the monthly title, SCI editors Ken Purdy and later John Christy also created these annuals on sports cars. These started the year after Ziff-Davis purchased the title and ended with the re-titling to Car and Driver.
