OVERVIEW:
Import Racer was published by Chris Yee and Y-Visionary Publishing. The compact car aftermarket industry
was valued at $7 billion, and this title provided advertisers a platform to sell products to those modifying their import car for street use. Content
included feature vehicles, drifting and racing events, and how-to articles.
Numbering started in March, 2000 with volume 4 number 3, so it is possible there was a predecessor title which we have yet to find. Then in 2002, volume numbering dropped from volume 5 back to volume 3; we are uncertain why this was done. After the February, 2006 issue, the magazine was re-titled as Import Performance. However, only three issues were printed. These are also included below.
OWNERSHIP:
Y-Visionary was founded in 1996. Its first magazine was Drag Racer in 1997, and it was followed by
Street Trucks in 1999. Corporate offices were located in Orange, California.
Y-Visionary was acquired by Apprise Media in September 2005. Apprise was formed by Charles G. McCurdy, a former Primedia executive.

PUBLICATION DATA:
The publisher did provide title information to Oxbridge's The Standard Periodical Directory for 2002 through
2005 (the last year for which we currently have publishing data), but print production was reported as zero.
CONTENT COMPLETENESS:
We estimate a total of 57 issues were printed from March, 2000 through February, 2006, plus three more issues of
Import Performance were printed in March through May, 2006. All issues are complete except 8/2001, 12/2004,
9/2005, 10/2005, 12/2005 and 4/2006. We apologize for the poor condition of some cover images. This is a
rare title, and quality images are not easily found.
INTERNET:
An internet presence was created and links referenced on the front covers from the beginning of print production. The site is now defunct:
