Customs Illustrated - Magazine Covers - 1958 to 1967
This pocket-sized (small format) magazine was published by Arnold Abramson and his Universal Publishing company from July, 1958 through January, 1967. The address was at 1250 Camden Ave S.W., Canton, Ohio, with executive offices in New York. The editor was Bern Williams, who did double duty with Rods Illustrated (a sister magazine launched the prior month).
The contents were devoted strictly to custom cars, and there were many illustrations and "how to" tips. The magazine outlasted Petersen Publishing's Custom Cars primarily because customs were more popular on the East coast.
PUBLICATION DATA: Customs Illustrated had four years of publisher provided net paid circulation volume data (1963 through 1966), but it used the same numbers for multiple years. Although these numbers are suspect, the magazine remained in the #13 or #14 position among all automotive titles with print volume data.
MISSING: January or February 1964, volume 7, number 1.
