OVERVIEW:
Car and Driver started in March, 1961 when Sports Cars Illustrated was renamed. Content initially focused on sports cars (both foreign and domestic), road tests and racing activities.

Besides publishing the monthly title, editors created the following yearbooks which functioned as buyer's guide for foreign and domestic performance cars. We don't know if the name continued beyond 1971, but issues in the '70s and '80s were noted as Buyer's Guide.
